All 181 primary, nursery and Additional Support Needs schools in north Lanarkshire now have fibre connections following a contract delivered by Commsworld more than 20 times the previous capacity, and secondary school connections are five times faster than before.
Colt has completed the deployment of a dark fibre cable along the Channel Tunnel connecting London to Paris, supporting the growing demand for cloud computing in both cities.
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of all new cables installed in the Channel Tunnel, Colt will ensure all connectivity services are highly secure.
Herve Jost, Director of Eurotunnel/Getlink Connectivity Solutions, Colt, said: “Approximately 80% of the internet traffic which runs between the UK and mainland Europe today travels through the Channel Tunnel.
“It is crucial to increase the bandwidth, enhance performance, bolster reliability, and fortify the security of our network.”
In September 2021, Colt and Getlink signed a 25-year contract to install and operate a new fibre optic network spanning the Channel Tunnel.
