TalkTalk record data spike points to criticality of connectivity

BT Group has revised its timetable for moving all customers off the PSTN and onto digital landlines following a two-year delay.

Ofcom has kicked off its Telecoms Access Review (TAR) 2026, an evaluation of the regulations that will apply to the UK fixed telecoms markets from April 2026 until March 2031.

The average consumer take-up across altnet networks is currently at 16%, half that of Openreach at 32%, despite the collective footprint of challengers now equalling that of the incumbent.

Following a report from INCA and Point Topic that altnets have now passed more premises in aggregate than Openreach, Neos CEO Lee Myall states that consolidation is the next natural step.
